The route from Turkey to Algeria
Algeria is reached by sea, from Gemlik, Istanbul, İzmir and Mersin to Annaba, Algiers and Béjaïa. Before anything is ordered, the Algerian importer needs an approved import programme and a bank domiciliation.
From Gemlik, Ambarlı in Istanbul, Aliağa in İzmir and Mersin to Annaba, Algiers or Béjaïa. A full container just for you, or space in a shared one.
Algerian ports can be congested, and since January 2026 ships may be sent to quieter ports, which adds time.
5–10 daysFor samples and urgent, light orders.
3–7 daysTimes are approximate, port to port or border to border, and don't include customs clearance.

Papers: what we prepare and what Algeria asks for
We prepare in Turkey
- Commercial invoiceEvery model, its quantity and price.
- Packing listWhat is in each carton, its weight and size, from the inspection.
- Certificate of originShows the goods are Turkish; Algerian customs ask for it.
What Algeria asks of you
- Import programme (PPI)Before ordering, the Algerian importer has its import programme approved by the Ministry of Foreign Trade on its online platform. Without approval the import can't start.
- Bank domiciliation before loadingThe importer domiciles the import with an Algerian bank before the goods ship, and the bill of lading must be dated after it. So the goods are not loaded until the importer confirms it.Official site
- Certificate of free saleAlgeria asks for a certificate showing the product is sold legally in Türkiye, issued by the Turkish exporters' associations.
Trade agreement and duties
No trade agreement is in force between Algeria and Türkiye; talks aim to finish by the end of 2026. Customs duty is 5%, 15% or 30% depending on how processed the goods are, plus 19% VAT and a 2% levy. Many finished goods also pay an extra safeguard duty (DAPS) of 30% to 120%.
Before you order goods for Algeria
- Check your product's HS code with your Algerian buyer: many finished goods carry the DAPS duty, and Algeria often suspends imports of goods it makes itself. The lists change often, so we check the current position before you order.
- Used goods, used tyres and spare parts, counterfeit goods and toy guns are banned, and vehicles are imported only through authorised dealers.
- Consumer goods need Arabic details on the original packaging, with the importer's name and the dates, and a GTIN barcode.
