The route from Turkey to Saudi Arabia
Most containers for Saudi Arabia go through the Suez Canal to Jeddah or King Abdullah Port on the Red Sea, with direct lines from Istanbul, İzmit, Gemlik, İzmir and Mersin. Trucks can also drive through Iraq or through Syria and Jordan.
Since March 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been mostly shut, so ships for Dammam are rare. The Red Sea ports of Jeddah and King Abdullah Port still take ships, and the road through Iraq or through Syria and Jordan is open.
From Ambarlı in Istanbul, Gemlik, Aliağa in İzmir and Mersin to Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdullah Port. A full container just for you, or space in a shared one.
About 4 days from Mersin and up to 11 from Istanbul (schedule estimates). Dammam, on the Gulf, has had few ships since March 2026.
4–11 daysThrough Iraq under TIR (in at Habur – Ibrahim Khalil, into Saudi Arabia at Jdeidat Arar), or through Syria and Jordan. Turkish drivers get Saudi transit visas, and the Turkish Ministry of Trade says trucks reach the Gulf in 3 to 4 days.
Time confirmed with your quoteFor samples and urgent, light orders.
3–7 daysTimes are approximate, port to port or border to border, and don't include customs clearance.

Usually the best fit: a shared container. You pay only for 11.5 m³.

Papers: what we prepare and what Saudi Arabia asks for
We prepare in Turkey
- Commercial invoiceEvery model, its quantity and price.
- Packing listWhat is in each carton, its weight and size, from the inspection.
- Certificate of originShows the goods are Turkish; Saudi customs asks for it with the invoice and bill of lading.
What Saudi Arabia asks of you
- SABERThe Saudi importer registers every consumer product in SABER (food, cosmetics and medicines aside). Regulated products need a Product Certificate, valid a year, and since October 2025 every consignment needs a Shipment Certificate before customs.Official site
- SFDAFood, cosmetics, medicines and medical devices go through the Saudi Food and Drug Authority instead: the importer registers the company and each product first, and halal certificates must come from SFDA-recognised bodies.Official site
- FasahThe importer files the customs declaration and papers in Fasah at least 48 hours before the goods arrive.Official site
Trade agreement and duties
No trade agreement is in force: GCC–Türkiye free trade talks were still going on in October 2026. The GCC common tariff applies, 5% on most goods, and Saudi Arabia charges up to 25% on some goods that compete with local products.
Before you order goods for Saudi Arabia
- Banned: weapons, alcohol, pork, narcotics, used or retreaded tyres, used clothing and some others. Seeds, books and media, chemicals, medicines, wireless equipment and drones, and products with alcohol such as perfume need special approval.
- Labels follow the SASO standard for the product; warnings and manuals must be in Arabic, and the 'Made in Türkiye' mark must be permanent.
- In July 2026 the Houthis warned ships against calling at Saudi ports. Lines kept sailing to Jeddah, but we confirm the route and the time when you order.
